Get your sleep now. We have a busy week ahead of us in Hawaii……..
Day 2 – Relaxing at the Resort
When we finally arrived at the beautiful Marriott Ko’Olina Beach Club, we were beyond exhausted. It is a BIG adjustment to fly to Hawaii from the East Coast – a 6-hour time difference. We had started our day well before the sun had risen in Pennsylvania, and at that point, time had lost all meaning. We went to bed immediately after dinner. At this point, it was 9 pm in Hawaii, which was 3 am back home.
Time to wake up!
I found myself up and ready to start the next day at 2:30 am Hawaii time! The kids were all up and dressed by 6 am. Ryan ordered us a delicious breakfast Denny’s from Uber Eats, and we set out to explore the resort and have some fun!
We discovered that although Marriott Ko’Olina Beach Club, didn’t officially list our room as one with a beach view, (It was listed as a mountain view) we were in the last building on the west side of the property, so we had a lovely view of the coves and sailboat and the Pacific Ocean! It was a stunning backdrop as we ate outside on our balcony.
A Perfect Resort!
The Marriot Ko’Olina Beach Club is a beautiful resort that is perfect for families. Ryan and our kids shared a two-bedroom villa with my parents. My three siblings and their families all shared a three-bedroom villa two floors up from ours. Each villa comes with a fully equipped kitchenette, washer and dryer, and a full bathroom for each bedroom. One thing we miss about the resort now that we are home is the water pressure in the shower. It was amazing!
The Marriott Ko’Olina Beach Club, has several beautiful pools for kids and adults private lagoon, several restaurants, and a well-stocked convenience/gift shop. They also have food stands to take food to go. We ate dinner at Longboards and the portions were very reasonable. The kids also enjoyed getting Shaved Ice from the Ice stand next to the water slide. We went down to the convenience/gift shop for breakfast every morning and the kids picked out Pop Tarts while we had items from the onsite bakery. They even had a Starbucks which Ryan was overjoyed with.
Hawaii Pool Time
We spent the morning at the Marriott Ko’Olina Beach Club, lagoon pool with my family members. This pool has a sand bottom and is shallow enough that even my youngest niece and nephew could walk right in. It also has a deeper end with basketball and volleyball nets. The resort provides towels, and we were thrilled to discover an area where you could leave and borrow beach toys and pool floats. We enjoyed the beautiful sunshine, the perfect temperatures, and incredible scenery all day.
More Hawaii time to come!
That evening we watched my niece and nephews while my siblings went to dinner and a show at the Polynesian Cultural Center (more on that later!). The resort has grills, and we made burgers and ate in the villa before hitting the pool once again. It was a beautiful first day in gorgeous Oahu.
Our next article will cover day 3 of our trip and the amazing time we had at the Polynesian Cultural Center.
